This is the best time to reveal it! Rehit'll be just as confused as you, and you'll end up marrying him or something.

Ah well, it was not quite the luck I was wishing for you, but the doom isn't the one you were expecting; that at least is a blessing. And we know that the husband is not traff, apparently. You did manage to avoid revealing your cuckolding, right? That's...well, maybe not good, but at least it's not bad.

Well I'm not saying it's easy -- I'm only OKAY at that, and only then in relatively optimal circumstances. But as an outside observer, I can see that you could do to practice this a bit. I mean you certainly have enough time to get good at it!

You have, it seems, not had the pleasure of having The Conversation With The Cuckolded Husband. I suspect that, indeed, you have not had the pleasure of cuckolding any. Unless, perchance, someone has asked for your hand in marriage, but rejected the rest of you.

Sythyry... there is this skill that you don't have, that you need to practice!

It is called, "Being a good listener." I mean, seriously listening to what people have to say, and are actually saying, with their words and body language without preconceived notions... how they actually feel, what they really mean, stuff like that... I think if you practice and get better at this skill, you can probably avoid many potentially doomful situations. Ask your Cani for help?

It's obvious, really. Or it was when Rehit told me about it the next minute or two. I'm sure my translator will finish translating it presently.

Editorial note: Your translator seems to be having technical issues. An e that should have been replaced with an accented symbol instead got the accented one tacked after it, in the exposition after your second transcribed line of dialog.

When one's conscience is guilty, one must be especially careful not to fall into the trap of knowing what someone else wants to talk about.

In this case, it would seem your conscience was, as a local saying goes, barking up the wrong tree. (As in trained hunting-beasts that have got it into their heads that their quarry has been chased up one tree, and are signaling so quite persistently and vocally, when in fact this is not the case; perhaps it has fled to another nearby tree, or perhaps they followed a false trail to begin with, such as the one it came from, rather than the one it went to.)

Unfortunate confusion of events, that. You'd thought the mayor had asked him to attack you *then*/in the near future, while he was all along referring to that disastrous luncheon... Hm. Interesting.

It's already been evident that the mayor is not as ineffectual as his speech impediment makes him appear. Apparently his politics are just as twisty as any politician's...
